Solution Architecture

At its core, the Data & More software is an extremely sophisticated data processing, indexing and metadata collection engine. The code base is containerized with the core components developed in Python. It sits on a hardened LTS build of Ubuntu Linux and leverages Elastic Search for data storage and processing. All data is AES encrypted, both in-transit and at rest.
Data & More uses a proprietary connector for access to managed content sources both in the Microsoft cloud and on-prem. Access to Microsoft 365 is through an App Registration in Entra ID. Access to on-prem resource is through mount points. Both local and domain accounts are supported for on-prem resource access.
Access to Data & More is through a secure web interface. Entra ID is leveraged for user authentication. Granular authorization is managed within the Data & More software creating alignment with organizational standards around RBAC and least-privilege system access.
All system notification is through email, which can be configured for internal or external mail delivery.

The first step is to Connect the Data & More software to the content sources you want to manage. Then the Data & More software will Find & Profile your unstructured data, creating a comprehensive index and metadata catalog of everything it finds. It’s important to Determine Ownership of any shared resources to facilitate the review and remediation of important data.
Policies are how the discovered data becomes relevant to your projects and objectives, and more importantly, to the people in your organization. Enabling Policies creates visibility, sets priority around the most important outcomes, and facilitates the delivery of end-user reports to various people in your organization. The end-user reports allow data owners and designated custodians to Review & Mark the data they are responsible for so the Data & More software can automate the Remediation. Most commonly, the remediation is data deletion, data reorganization, or applying a Purview label for Microsoft DLP or integration with other tools in your data ecosystem.
Through the entire process, the Data & More software will Measure & Report results, from the initial baseline created during a Privacy Data Risk Assessment to the completed project, making it easy to show progress and measure the business benefit created by your work.
